Pendulum – In Silico
by cherryghost on Aug.03, 2009, under Drum N Bass, Electronica, Indie
Normally Drum n’ Bass is not my style of music, but I was tempted to give the album a listen to after some amazing performances at Download ‘09. Needless to stay, I was impressed by what these guys had to offer, contrary to my thoughts beforehand. My head wanted me to hate this album so much, but I cant. There are cracks of weakness though… Read on for more. (continue reading…)
Bell X1 – Blue Lights on the Runway
by cherryghost on Apr.01, 2009, under Indie, Pop
The ever growing interest in our local Wexford band in America has made me feel inclined that I must review this album, to see what the fuss is all about. Bell X1’s previous albums have been a staple in showing the world that we are more than capable of delivering quality music which is easy on the ear and yet ferocious to a certain degree. This album, however, is nothing like that. Disappointment ensues…. (continue reading…)
Late Of the Pier – Fantasy Black Channel
by cherryghost on Jan.17, 2009, under Electronica, Indie
You know a band means business when the first two songs are completely instrumental and blown out of almost epic proportions, before they sit down and get back to writing Emmy-award winning songs. Unfortunately, they would probably fail, but they come darn close to it. (continue reading…)
Kings of Leon – Only By the Night
by cherryghost on Sep.18, 2008, under Blues, Indie, Pop, Rock
It hasnt been long since Kings of Leon struck us with Because of the Times, with its elegant radio-friendly guitar-led tunes, which saw them soar in popularity, and this album will only help them maintain the limelight. This is Kings of Leon, reinvented. (continue reading…)
Hadouken – Music For An Accelerated Culture
by cherryghost on Aug.02, 2008, under Electronica, Indie
Ah Hadouken! A band with another meaning in another language, its no suprise that they’ve made it quite big over in Japan. Hadouken! are a four piece band from England, whom say that they dont put themselves into a genre. And its true. Listening to the album, I’m not sure what to classify them in, and to be honest, at times, maybe they dont know what there doing in places either. The best way to describe them would be Indie/Rave/Rap, mixed in with a bit of electronica, very interesting mix of them all. (continue reading…)
Coldplay – Viva La Vida
by mullet56 on Jul.11, 2008, under Alternative, Indie, Pop, Rock
As an old school Coldplay fan, I was a little apprehensive when it came to their new album. I was quite the Coldplay fan a while ago, but I had become bored of the same old Coldplay sound, and stopped taking any interest in them. So I was looking for one thing in this new album, and that was some range. It has been (and I think still is) number 1. in the charts, so despite the apprehension I had high hopes. The album was surrounded by claims that it’s lyrics were more abstract and visual than before, on top of that one of the band members said he was a little terrified of this album. But on to track 1. (continue reading…)
The Holloways – So This Is Great Britain
by cherryghost on Jul.11, 2008, under Indie
Every once in a while, one great album that blows your mind away comes and gives the competition a nudge. The Holloways, very much does one great album, but fails to move competition. I’m highly recommending this album to any love of music.
The Holloways formed no less than four years ago, and aimed high, playing at Glastonbury in 2005, a year before they released the album, and critics were spellbinded by the groups amazing talent. Theses guys are really that good. (continue reading…)
